Writing can be a lonely business. We don't just help you sharpen your writing skills and keep you up to date with the latest industry news. Membership means you can socialise and network with your peers... as well as other lovely people whose job it is to help you tell your stories and find an audience.

It is! And did we mention SYchat? It's our online group where you can message fellow members about all things writing. Oh yes, nearly forgot to say... there's also the fact our members quite often go on to win awards.

Cool! Does it matter what level I'm at, though?

Nope. You do have to be over the age of eighteen. But apart from that, we welcome everyone from beginners developing their craft to award-winning radio and TV writers.

And do I actually have to live in Yorkshire?

Not necessarily. Although it does help if you want to come to our events! They're mostly held in Leeds because it's central. Let's just put it this way: whether you're Yorkshire born and bred, or you made the smart decision to move here and ended up staying, Script Yorkshire is for you.

One more thing... do I have to be a writer?

Again, not necessarily. Membership is open to writers, those who work with writers and those who work with text in performance in a variety of ways.

How much does it cost to join?

Our annual membership fee is £40 if you're working and £20 if you're unwaged.

Just follow the two steps below and click the 'Join' button to be taken to the payment page. You can pay with a debit or credit card, or by PayPal, whichever you prefer.
Once your payment has gone through, you'll get a welcome email with all the info you need about your membership. It will probably go to your junk mail, though, so have a look for it there and add us to your safe list.

Step 1: Read this
There are no rites of passage required to join Script Yorkshire. No blindfolds or weird rituals. You just have to be over the age of 18. And you have to read and agree to the following two short paragraphs about data protection.

In applying for membership, you consent to Script Yorkshire holding your name, email address and payment info on the Script Yorkshire membership database until such time as you ask for your information to be removed, or until your membership expires and you do not renew within a period of two months.
You understand that Script Yorkshire needs this information for the purpose of allowing you to participate in SYchat (the Script Yorkshire members' online group), sending you the monthly Newscript newsletter and keeping you informed about relevant scriptwriting activities and opportunities such as workshops, script submission call-outs, writing competitions and so on.
