Our privacy policy

In compliance with the EU data protection laws (GDPR), effective from 25th May 2019, this privacy policy defines the personal information we hold about our members and how we use it.

What personal data does

Script Yorkshire hold?

When you apply to join Script Yorkshire, our application form asks for your name, email address and the Yorkshire region in which you live.

That’s all the information we need to keep you informed about forthcoming workshops and writers’ events, to give you access to our membership forum and to send you our monthly news round-up, including the latest opportunities and call outs for script submissions throughout the UK.

Our database and who has access to it

The details you provide us with when you join are stored securely on our membership database.

The people who have access to this information are:

  • The co-chairs of the board
  • The membership secretary
  • The newsletter editor
  • Script Yorkshire's webmaster

Details of members’ names, email addresses and membership renewal dates may be forwarded to Script Yorkshire's local co-ordinators to aid their group administration.

We do not share our database information with third parties or sell your data to marketing companies.

What about bank details?

We don’t store any bank details on our database at all. We only accept payment of membership fees by cheque or by PayPal.

Workshop bookings

For each workshop, the Script Yorkshire board member responsible for taking bookings maintains a spreadsheet to record names and email addresses of members who have booked a place, and those who are on a waiting list.

Workshop and event photography

We regularly take photographs at our workshops and events and upload them to our Dropbox, partly for posterity, and partly for use on our website, our Facebook page and our Twitter feed.

Before taking photographs, we will always ask permission of our attendees. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let the photographer know.

How can you be removed from our database?

Your information will be removed from our database when your annual membership lapses and you choose not to renew your subscription fees.

If you decide you no longer wish to be a member of Script Yorkshire, either before or after your membership expires, please email members@scriptyorkshire.org.uk and our membership secretary will ensure your data is deleted.
